The Department of Under Graduate Studies in Economics was established in June 1972. Being a department in the backward area of Maharashtra, it has played an important role in developing higher studies and research in Economics in this region. The department contributed a lot in National Integration work by spreading Economical Literacy in Developing area. The Department could give academic leadership in some of the new areas of Economics studies. This department is trying to create Economical & Social Literary sense through organize of various Programmers like State level conference on Impact of Globalization on Indian Agriculture, National seminar on Sustainable Development Goal`s, One-week Online FDP on Creation of Digital Academic Platform etc. The department keeping in view the changing social norms, different social roles of common man in our society and fast changing social values in our time. While execution of syllabus, sufficient care has been taken to cater to above needs.
It has been kept flexible enough to incorporate various requirements of the students in the context of contemporary society. Special attention is also given to the regional and comprehensive studies of Regional Development, Poverty, Economic Discrimination & Population Studies through Economics Department.
